Happy New Year to you all and we hope you enjoyed the Christmas festivities.

Snow plays havoc

I was driving to Kidderminster this morning, to carry out an energy survey on a rental property, when the snow flurries started. After driving a few more miles and a quick call to the lettings office I had to turn round and make my way back to Malvern.

By the time I got back to Malvern the snow was getting heavier and I soon realised I wasn't going to make my next appointment either so, homeward bound, I decided that I would use the time to get the blog sorted on the website.

The BBC website shows some great photos, shot by local people, of Hereford & Worcester once the white blankets had been laid. You can view the photos here

All the things in place

So here it is, I hope the final adjustments have been made to the comments system, the Rss feeds system seems to be showing all blog articles and an automatic update to Twitter seems to be promising with auto url shortening. I have also added an extra module to allow readers to re-tweet should they wish.

Unfortunately the previous subscribers to the Rss feeds and the previous blog comments have been lost but onwards and upwards. Finally I have also started looking at a ping module for getting the blog out there to the masses!

Back to the HIP & EPC news

So hopefully over the coming weeks and months I shall be able to keep readers up to date with what is happening within the various industries we work in and also keep you informed about new services that we will be offering to clients old and new.

Today (20/10/2009) I attended a seminar from HIP2go, regarding the future of HIPs primarily concerned with the Conservative plans should they gain power. It was an interesting seminar with some good points raised and maybe if the suggestions put to the Conservative party come to fruition I can remain in business and sellers and buyers will have a more useful pack that would definitely speed up the home buying process.

Although the Conservatives have pledged to scrap HIPs I do feel it would be a step backward in the work trying to be done to improve the process, speed up the process and reduce the number of transaction failures. The suggestion put to the Conservatives is that a new pack is developed that is more useful to all concerned. The REP (Ready to Exchange Pack) would allow most solicitors to have a purchaser ready to exchange contracts within 2 weeks of the seller accepting an offer. The pack would consist of:
